Gam(e)(a)ble is a FWO-funded research project studying the blurring lines between gaming and gambling in youth. It gathers researchers from various fields (media sciences, legal research, developmental psychology, and prevention studies) around the study of recent media phenomena combining elements from video games and gambling activities.
The project aims to contribute to a better understanding of these emergent devices and their effects on adolescents, in order to address issues related with regulation, information, protection and counseling around gambling and gambling.
As such, it hopes to allow adolescents, parents, educators, intervention professionals, and policymakers to deal with such devices and practices, which they are likely to encounter more and more in the future.
